Field Taxis Johannesburg is a project that emerges out of the need to understand and respond to the chaotic phenomenon of the South African minibus taxi.

The minibus taxi is a vital form of transport in South Africa’s spatially challenged cities bringing with it significant social and spatial consequences. These consequences, if critically explored, could provide valuable insights into how the industry could be better suited to the urban context it serves. The project explores this phenomenon through a series of drawings, field trips, workshops and conversations.
